The recent surge of interest in film in academia has seen the emergence of film studies as a legitimate academic discipline, and a concomitant rise in film scholarship and courses in film offered at colleges and universities. Yet film has also become a medium of interest in other disciplines, especially in philosophy, which is currently witnessing a “boom” in the general area of philosophy and film.
