I was born in the ’seventies. My father came from County Limerick, and belonged to the Truagh Castle O’Donnells, who, tracing their descent from Shane Luirg, the elder brother of Niall Garbh, the ancestor of Red Hugh, rightly claim to be the oldest branch of the great clan.
