The Radium Woman—A Youth Edition of the Life of Madame Curie

Eleano Doorly

Adapted from the 1937 biography written by Marie Curie’s daughter Ève, this children’s edition begins with a five-year-old Manya Sklodovski (Marie Curie's birth name) living in occupied Poland. The book follows Manya and her daily difficulties growing up in Warsaw under Russian occupation, her life as she grows, her studies in Belgium and Paris, and later becoming a teacher, to meeting her future husband, Pierre Curie. It relates her successful scientific career and the great discoveries that changed the face of science and earned her the Nobel prize in 1903.
